This edition, prepared by the Rotterdam antiquarian Cornelis van Alkemade (1654–1737), is the first illustrated edition: with thirty-five engravings of the counts of Holland after the old paintings from the Carmelite monastery at Haarlem, together with a portrait of Gerard van Velsen, the murderer of Count Floris V.
